PRESS RELEASE

A founder for the Pavilion of Family and Education

October 4, 2007 - Mascouche, QC. The fund raising campaign of the Foundation du Centre de santé et de services sociaux du Sud de Lanaudière (Foundation of the Center for Health and Social Services of South Lanaudière) is at a culmination point of its cycle. Indeed, it now has a "founder sponsor" among its donors. The businessman Mr. Denis Leclerc, owner of Albi Le Géant, was concerned by the vocation of the Pavilion de la famille et de l'enseignement (Pavilion of Family and Education). Through his company, he agrees to contribute only to this philanthropic cause a donation of $750 000 up to $1M, and this, over a period of five (5) years.

This donation is determinant for the fundraising campaign of the Foundation du CSSS du Sud de Lanaudière (Foundation of CSSS of South Lanaudière) since this announcement confirms that $5,5M on $6.5M have been promised over 5 years. In recognition to the involvement of Albi Le Géant, the Pavillon de la famille et de l'enseignement will be named, during its construction in 2009, the Pavilion Desrosiers-Langlois, chosen by Mr. Denis Leclerc in memory of Mrs. Rose-Aimé Desrosiers (his mother) and Mr. Eric Langlois (Sales Manager, Albi Le Géant) who have both lost their battle against cancer.

The southern part of the Lanaudière region is characterized by a strong demographic growth (over 2500 birth per year) and 25% of the population is 18 years old or less. This is why the Pavilion is the answer to the growing needs of the children and the families of our region. It will offer for them the best clinical practices and advanced care without having to switch hospitals. The Pavilion will also provide support to those families whose child has a disability or chronic illness, an aid to the prematurely born children or with different problems such as, behavioral disorders, eating disorders, respiratory problems, an early detection in orthophony, audiology including a support for the development of a program of hematoma-oncology. Part of the Pavilion's mission will also include learning activities and clinical research to fight cancer.

Moreover, partnership agreements with the CHU Ste-Justine and the Université de Montréal will enable the Centre de santé et services sociaux (Center for Health and Social Services) to position itself as a reference center. Communication and remote consultation mechanisms will allow to exchange with the CHU Ste-Justine specialists and provide an avant-garde learning environment to students where they will find an education and varied experience. In this way, the clientele will benefit from their services. The Pavilion is a concrete way to ensure the welfare of our children...the adults of tomorrow!

The Foundation du CSSS du Sud de Lanaudière's mission is to collect donations to support the Centre de santé et de services sociaux du Sud de Lanaudière in order to improve the health and wellness of area residents. In this manner, we contribute to enhance accessibility, continuity and quality of services offered in addition to public funding.
